Paper fare cards do not expire, but they may not work after 4 years due to the strip becoming demagnetized. Three trips using paper fare cards will cost a minimum of $8.25 ($1.75 + $1 surcharge each) and will likely be more depending on the time and distance of the trips, so you will need to buy an additional fare card even if your old ones still work.
